Signing to Play College Soccer

March 31, 2015 By Brayden Currin

guilford-brayden-signingPlaying soccer in college has been something that I have wanted to do since I was very young.

I wanted to do this because the idea of stopping my competitive career as player after high school was unthinkable in my mind. Each season I would play with that goal in the back of my head.

Marketing Yourself

As college crept closer and closer, I quickly realized that I wasn’t the only one that wanted to move on to the next level. It dawned on me that thousands of players just like me were competing for the same roster spots that I was. So along with unrelenting hard work, I began to market myself.

I went to college residential camps, college ID camps, emailed coaches and made a soccer resume that covered my entire career. Eventually, I had to choose one school form the options I had in front of me.

Guilford College spoke to me from the beginning and it soon became apparent that it was the right place for me. The day I signed was an awesome day for me not only because I got to sign alongside my teammate, but also because it was the day that my dream of playing college soccer officially became a reality.
